Well thank you everyone who contributed to the awesome holiday season. 2010 turned out great for me. Highlights of the year definitely being going out to Iowa for the summer and doing research with Dr. Sheffield and finishing the fall semester with an A- in Organic Chemistry!
I have high hopes for 2011. Most of my resolutions for the year are geared towards bettering my life and furthering my career and transition to adulthood. I am very confident I have gained major status, I am just waiting for the letter to come through the mail.
-I have done a lot of thinking about who and where I want to be. One of my major resolutions is I have decided I need to put more emphasis into looking the part of engineering student/pre-med student. A "fashion makeover" into adulthood per se. I am going to get my hair done later this week to look a little more professional (albeit still long), and I hope to maybe start wearing more professional clothing to school instead of the usual grunge t-shirt and jeans. The kids in my major are very bright, and most are ~25 years old with wifes and families. They are serious, I am serious, but I'll need to put more effort to compete.
-Get a job/lab position. I have been working very hard on this. Having major status will definitely help now. I applied for an undergraduate position at the Utah Artificial Heart program that I want so badly the other day, I hope I get it. Overall I just want to immerse myself into something. I want to read up on everything about it and try and contribute the best I can. Whether it be research or an internship.
-Physical fitness. I know its cliche... but I have been planning this for awhile now. I hope to join the U of U's cycling team later this spring. I need to put good time in on the bike and build up my aerobic threshold and leg strength. I'm also taking a swimming class to build up my swimming abilities. (anyone else see a possible triathalon in the future??....probably not for awhile at least haha). Jeremy Cleek and I have committed to doing Lotoja this September and I am going to see that I will be ready for it.
I am very grateful I have the opportunity to be living right now in this moment and for the opportunities that I have had, and I want to wish everybody a Happy New Year!
...and I am excited for this spring semester. Bring it on!

i wanna take swimming lessons with you! I want to do a triathlon so so bad....but the swimming part freaks me out.
Sounds like a great list. I was hoping to do a triathlon as well but got so busy and tired, and honestly the swimming scared me away.
Definitely call Dr. Sheffield and get a letter of recommendation from him this week. That should help your application.
I will be excited to see the make over.
